A day at SECRET GARDEN Nursery

Your child's day

Learning through play forms the basis of our SECRET GARDEN Nursery. We give our children stimulating, active play experiences in which they can explore and develop their learning to help them make sense of the world.

At SECRET GARDEN Nursery it’s all about fun and play. Parents, however, will know that each experience is part of an educational programme, carefully designed for your child. Activities are planned so that children gain meaningful experiences through the use of resources, combining the EYFS curriculum and High Scope principles. Activities incorporate all seven areas of learning. Moreover, activities include art and craft, dancing, singing, sport, drama, science, and role-play.

At SECRET GARDEN Nursery we instil routines, which are important for children to learn and develop, yet no day is exactly the same as we embark on adventures nature has to offer and the ever changing seasons always adds to child’s experience.

09:00 am - Welcome all children

Our teachers are there to welcome all children as well as hear any considerations concerning your child for the day. All children must be signed in, as well as sign the name of person collecting a child.

09:30 am - Free play

We begin the day with a walk through nature to our amazing outdoors environment. We plan activities based on each child’s interests with the aim of extending and supporting each child’s development according to EYFS framework.

The day’s events depends on wherever the children’s imagination and curiosity takes them, and our teachers ensure a safe environment for play, fund and learning.

10:45 am - Washing hands and snack time

The children are supported to use the toilets and wash hands before sitting down to snack.  Time to gather around and eat our lovely morning snack.

Children and teachers eat together and this is a social time for communication as well as a break for the children.

The snack time is a great way for children to pick up good eating habits from one another and from our teachers. Furthermore, all children are encouraged to self-serve and share, once finished empty their leftovers into the bin supporting independence.

As each child is unique, timings are flexible in order to meet children’s needs.

More adventures and play. Each key person takes the time to carry out activities with their key children to aid their development or build a skill they have already learnt. We will go through adventures depending on the children’s desires and enthusiasm.
