Childcare Funding

Childcare Choices – government help with childcare costs for parents.

2 Year Old Funding

We offer free childcare to eligible 2-year-old children. The funding can start from the term after their 2nd Birthday. The eligible children must reside in England and meet one of the following criteria:

  • Income Support

  • income-based Jobseeker’s Allowance (JSA)

  • income-related Employment and Support Allowance (ESA)

  • Universal Credit, and your household income is £15,400 a year or less after tax, not including benefit payments

  • tax credits, and your household income is £16,190 a year or less before tax

  • the guaranteed element of Pension Credit

  • the Working Tax Credit 4-week run on (the payment you get when you stop qualifying for Working Tax Credit)


2-year-olds can also get free childcare if they:


You may have to pay for extra costs like meals, nappies or trips.

15 Universal Hours

The free entitlement for eligible 2 year olds and all 3 and 4 year olds is at the heart of the Government’s vision.


All 3 to 4-year-olds in England can get 570 free hours per year. It’s usually taken as 15 hours a week for 38 weeks of the year, but you can choose to take fewer hours over more weeks, for example.

30 Hours Funding

A further 15 hours is offered to working families for 3 and 4 year olds.


The eligible parents can get 30 hours childcare if you and your partner, if you have one, are in work and each earning at least the National Minimum Wage or Living Wage for 16 hours a week and earn leass than £100,000 per annum.

Camden Enhanced Offer - CEO

The Camden Enhanced scheme for 30 hours of early education and childcare.


This scheme is aimed at Camden residents who are not eligible for the government's 30 hours for working parents. We recommend parents verify the eligibility criteria. 

Deadlines

  • To apply for a place starting in September apply by 31st August.

  • To apply for a place starting in January apply by 31st December.

  • To apply for a place starting in April apply by 31st March.

Tax Free Childcare

Parents can pay fees through a Tax Free Childcare account if they are eligible.


For every £8 you pay in, the government will add an extra £2, up to £2,000 per child per year, which is up to £500 every three months

Tax Credits

Tax credits are available from HM Revenue and Customs, based on your household’s circumstances.


You may be able to access help with the cost of childcare if you’re working for a minimum of 16 hours a week.

Childcare Vouchers

We accept childcare vouchers from employers who offer this benefit to their employees.


Vouchers are ‘non-taxable and exempt from NI contributions for employees, whilst offering NI savings for employees. Both parents are eligible to claim as long as they’re both in employment.
